These people saved my holiday.
You see, our crappy old Ford broke down on the Autobahn near Leipzig - never a good idea. After two hours of frantically calling the Dutch ANWB, German ADAC, our insurance and possibly even Santa Claus, this man showed up.
He immediately confirmed my diagnosis: the generator failed. Since it was a saturday, not a lot could be done - a new generator had to be ordered and such. So he loaded up our car and drove us to their workshop, where he contacted to see whether the local hotel had any rooms available; they did. So he drove us there.
Now, you understand, this is a working garage with more clients than a couple of silly tourists. The car would be ready by tuesday morning, which I found unfortunate (I have to work too) but understandable and acceptable. To my surprise, it wasn’t. The garage called us monday morning, around 10 AM. The work had been done, for about 150 euros *less* than I would have paid at my own, local garage. I suspect they did the work on sunday and I love them for it.
So basically, we were a bunch of tourists in distress and we were saved by a true knight “sans peur et sans reproche”.
My eternal thanks to this man & his colleagues and believe me, I’m not an easy man to please.
